Darrel Serves as the elder over Worship and Evangelism

Darrel and Judy are currently focusing on shepherding with a strong emphasis on issues of aging. They have been involved in many aspects of leadership at the Clairemont/Canyon View church since their return from seven years of church planting in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In 1974, they returned from Brazil and became members of the Clairemont church. Darrel taught in the Latin American Bible Inst. In Tijuana for six years while living in San Diego and assisting with some of the ministry needs of the Clairemont congregation. In 1980, Darrel was asked by the elders to assume the preaching responsibilities. He continued in this roll until 1994. He also has served as an elder from 1992 until the present. For years Judy served in the children’s Bible study program. Prior to retirement Darrel earned a graduate level certification in gerontology (study of aging) from ACU, and served for ten years as grief counselor and chaplain for Hospice by the Sea. Judy worked in medical records at Sharp Memorial Hospital as a Registered Health Information Technician. Darrel and Judy both retired in 2005 and have continued as a shepherding ministry team to the present. Darrel and Judy have three adult children (Karen, Kent, and Kathy) and eight grandchildren.
