At Canyon View, we are a church family that believes in the power of Jesus Christ working through ordinary people. We have a simple faith, seek the simple truths of the Bible, and simply call ourselves Christians. We love God and do our best to model our lives after Jesus, our Savior.
During worship, you will see ordinary people praising God. We believe the Bible shows us what the church and our worship should be like, and we do our best to model what we find in the New Testament. We praise God in song, we pray, and we are encouraged and convicted by God’s Word. Every Sunday we remember the sacrifice of Jesus as we eat the Lord’s Supper. We also worship God through the giving of our financial blessings with thankful hearts. Our worship service lasts for about an hour and fifteen minutes.
For our kids, we offer a special children’s class time that is concurrent with the minister’s sermon; we offer a children’s training room; and we have two staffed nurseries – one for infants, one for toddlers.
You might be surprised to see that we praise God all together without musical instruments or special singers. This encourages everyone to participate in worship. If you have never heard four-part harmony, you will be amazed!
You might witness someone being baptized. We believe that salvation is by the grace of God. First someone hears the good news message that Christ has died for their sins, that He was resurrected to conquer death, and that He ascended into heaven. They believe that He is the Son of God, they confess Him as Lord, and resolve to change their life. The Bible teaches that baptism by immersion is crucial in obeying Christ (Mark 16:16, Matthew 28:19-20), and in receiving both forgiveness of our sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38) This is the beginning of their new life in Christ! (Romans 6:1-11) As Christians, we do our best to live holy lives for God, for Jesus, and for each other. (Acts 2:42-47) We also desire to tell the world the amazing Good News of what God has done for us through Jesus.
