COVID-19 Update
Dear Canyon View Family,
As many of you have heard, the US Supreme Court has recently issued a couple of rulings indicating that some of the restrictions placed on churches are not constitutional. At Canyon View, we have worked hard to ensure that we are in compliance with the law. That is why we are outside Sunday mornings. However, the Elders are aware that soon the weather will not be conducive to having class and worship outdoors. At that time, we will move worship and class indoors. This move may happen with little or no notice.
When the move happens, we will continue to broadcast services via the FM transmitter for the drive-in service. However, our brothers and sisters in their cars will not be able to see the preacher or song leader. As before, when we move indoors, we will wear our masks and maintain social distancing.
The Elders understand that our members have different personal health concerns, different tolerances for risk, different views on the virus, and different understandings of our call to worship. We will continue to offer the online worship for those who are at a higher risk.
God is in control. There have been viruses and diseases from the time before Christ. Viruses likely spread among Christians during the first century as well. God knew the coronavirus would come. We believe he knew that churches would face tough decisions on how to respond. We will continue to worship without fear—but not recklessly because the virus is real.
We constantly pray for the congregation and for wisdom.
In Christian love,
The Elders of Canyon View Church of Christ
